The WHOLESOME MIND SUMMIT
On October 10, 2024, VINT & Aletheia, Attorneys and Consultants, in collaboration with the Mental Health Authority, the Department of Psychiatry at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, and the University of Ghana Medical School, held the inaugural Wholesome Mind Summit at the Labadi Beach Hotel in Accra. The event brought together mental health professionals, advocates, and industry leaders to address the critical issue of mental health, with a particular focus on the workplace.
Our Managing Attorney and the visionary behind the summit, Lady-Ann Essuman (Mrs.), emphasized the importance of prioritizing mental and occupational safety policies in workplaces. She pointed out that neglecting workplace well-being can lead to mental health issues that negatively affect productivity, teamwork, and employee satisfaction.
“As a business owner and a legal professional, we have managed to cultivate a culture of workplace well-being and productivity because we believe that Mental health issues can significantly impact productivity, teamwork, and overall happiness.” Mrs. Essuman stated. As mental health remains a crucial area for socio-economic development in Ghana, the summit highlighted the urgent need to create mentally healthy workplaces and to raise awareness about mental health.
The Special Guest of Honour, the First Lady of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo, commended the organizers for advocating for mental health and acknowledged the summit’s significance in promoting mental wellness within workplaces and communities.
As the African proverb says to go far, go together, we knew we had to go together and so we reached out to as many corporate entities, medical, and media partners such as GNPC, BOST, NLA, IPMC, National Health Insurance Authority, EIB network, Business and Financial Times, Daily Guide, Dennis Law News, Assase Radio, MS Staffing, Council for Foreign Relations Ghana, Sixteen 47, Beauty Technicians, and JP Cann Associates Limited.
At VINT & Aletheia, we believe it is essential to give back to our community by educating the public on mental health, with support from key stakeholders across academia, media, and corporate sectors.
